Cynthia A. Vella, RNC, NP, IBCLC

Cynthia, a certified nurse practitioner, for more than 30 years, has devoted her entire nursing career to Women's Health. Her passion for maternity care began as a civilian Air Force nurse in NM, where she developed an early bird first trimester of pregnancy class for military mothers to be and instructed a series of prepared childbirth classes at a nearby civilian hospital.For 11 years, at Falmouth Hospital she continued with childbirth education classes and assisted with the births and after care for thousands of mothers in a family style setting on Cape Cod. After 17 years at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, in Brockton MA, her latest achievements were developing the Friday Mommy & Me mothering group and team led the hospital to the prestigious Baby Friendly certification, becoming the 6th designated hospital in the state.

More recently, she is enjoying her own growing breastfeeding NP practice, at New England Mothers First, West Bridgewater, MA and also is a co-director of the New England Prenatal & Family Education program. Her memberships include United States Lactation Consultants of America (USLCA) and the MA Breastfeeding Coalition where she serves as the 2014 Clerk (MBC). Her education includes Eastern New Mexico University, Hahnemann/Drexel and is currently enrolled at Union University & Institute furthering her Lactation education. She is married to her husband Paul and enjoys her blended family of 5 children now grown with 4 beautiful grandchildren. Her hobbies include clamming, oystering, vacation planning and Disney.

Anne-Marie Rohrberg, BS, IBCLC

Anne-Marie has been a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2006 and she has been working with breastfeeding families since 2000.  Anne-Marie works at UMASS Memorial hospital helping new families begin breastfeeding and enjoys her time with them as they add to their families. She enjoys time outdoors at any time of the year.

Elizabeth Jarret, RN, BSN, CCE

Liz has been a Registered Nurse for 32 years, bringing a long history of supporting people to her CPR, Newborn Care, and Childbirth Education. She is ceritified as a Childbirth Educator through the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), and is a CPR/First Aid Certified Instructor through the American Heart Association. Liz is a mom of three children.

Gabrielle Hathaway, MS, IBCLC

Gabrielle is the mother of 6 children and has been working with mothers and babies since 2000. She is an IBCLC and works as a lactation consultant at UMass Memorial on both the maternity and NICU floors. Gabrielle enjoys knitting, reading and spending time outdoors with her family.

Jedda Richardson, CLS, CNA

Jedda is the mother of 3 children and a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). Her experience includes working on the Maternity Unit at UMass Memorial providing breastfeeding education and support to patients, teaching breastfeeding class and facilitating the weekly Breastfeeding Support Group. She also provides breastfeeding support throughout the commuity as a WIC Peer Counselor for the Family Health Center of Worcester. In addition, she facilitates the Worcester Baby Café. In her free time she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Marie O'Brien, RN, BSN, MSN

Mareis has been a nurse for almost 30 years.  She has worked in different settings including medical/surgical, critical care, and 13 years as a Labor and Delivery Nurse.  She currently works in Critical Care but continue to teach students during their maternity rotation in nursing school.  Marie is married and has two college age children. 

Pamela Perkins, RNC-MNN, BSN

Pam has been a nurse for 23 years.  Her work settings include medical/surgical, homecare, long-term care and she has 20 years of experience in Maternity at UMMHC.  She started as a labor and delivery nurse in 1996 and currently works as a postpartum and nursery nurse. In 2004 Pam obtained her certification specializing in Maternal/Newborn Nursing and continues working as a postpartum/nursery nurse.  She is an active member of the maternity unit lactation and mother/baby committees and enjoys educating and supporting new families as they transition to parenthood.

Sharon Karle, RN, BSN

Sharon has been employed by UMMMC since 2005, spending the past 5 years working in the Women's Center, OB/GYN Department, where she has enjoyed caring for and supporting women before,during and after their pregnancies. Before becoming a Registered Nurse, Sharon worked as a Lead Teacher and Assistant Director of a private preschool, spending 11 years educating young children and their families. Sharon is the mother of 2 wonderful children and the proud grandmother of a beautiful grandson, with twins on the way! In her spare time, she loves to read, walk her dog, spend time with her growing family and vacation on Cape Cod.
